RETÜL ZIN

The Retul Zin test is one of the most important steps in a Retul Bike Fit Biomechanical Assessment.

It is used to digitally document all measurements of your bicycle down to the millimeter. All of this is included in a comprehensive report on the bicycle’s fit, which the athlete can consult at any time.

What type of bicycle should a Bike Fit professional provide?

Whether your bike is a mountain bike, road bike, gravel bike, cyclocross bike, or track bike… Giving it your use for recreational, performance and well-being, or competitive purposes.

The ultimate goal of a RETÜL Bike Fit or Biomechanical Assessment is to find the ideal balance between your physique, the type of bicycle you use, and its intended purpose!

Do you have trouble reaching the handbrakes on the drops (below)?

This isn’t normal! Have you thought about the consequences this could cause?!

The reaction time until you reach the brakes, in a situation where an obstacle appears (a car, a dog, a pedestrian, a colleague braking suddenly, etc.) …is the time it takes for you to hit the obstacle. The consequence is a fall, for sure, with very unpleasant and expensive consequences!

Biomechanical assessment or bike fit is also a matter of safety!

I wear two pairs of shoes at the same time!

Saddle Height / Setback / Length vs. Shoe Swap or Wearing 2 Pairs of Shoes!

The idea that changing shoes or wearing more than one pair of shoes at the same time makes no difference as long as the cleats are properly adjusted is wrong.

When buying new shoes, or if you use more than one pair on the same bicycle, you should pay attention not only to the fit of the cleats, but also to the shape of the shoe and the height of the sole.

In the example given, there were 2 pairs of shoes used by the same athlete on the same bicycle.

This makes adjusting the bicycle for both pairs of shoes impossible. This causes huge differences in the general fit of the bike, especially in terms of saddle height, setback and length.

Handlebar Corrosion

It is common in the process of a biomechanical evaluation to have to disassemble the handlebars and stems and readjust them. During this process, we have encountered situations identical to the one in the example image on several occasions.

To avoid this type of situation, you should replace the handlebar tape annually:

*To prevent the accumulation of saltpeter on the handlebars, which is released by sweat and consequently causes corrosion of the handlebars;

*For greater comfort, since a new strap provides superior cushioning;

If it’s been a long time since you changed your handlebar tape, talk to your bike shop so they can help you avoid this problem!

Points that mark the reading zone with millimeter precision!

The Retül system measures the cyclist’s movements in real time using 3D motion capture technology that is tracked by a wireless Trigonometric LED cable connected directly to the cyclist.

How is the cable connected, you ask?
With those little black dots! They are called Retül pre-adhesive dots. These are placed at 8 strategic points on the cyclist by the Biomechanical Assessor or Bike Fitter.

Proper position on the bike!

Finding a suitable position on the bike doesn’t always mean it will be the most aerodynamic.
If you’re not comfortable on the bike, then you probably won’t be able to maintain that position for a long period of time, naturally resulting in decreased performance.

Status of your CLEATS

Regardless of the brand of cleats you use. You should check your status from time to time.

This is because if the cleats are excessively worn, like the ones in the example…
It can cause injuries, since the position changes considerably.
But just as important as causing an injury, excessive wear will put your safety at risk. The cleat could detach from the pedal at crucial moments, causing a fall.

Differences between the lower limbs

Sometimes special cases come our way!

This helps us see if the athlete has any problems that interfere with their bike position. In this particular case, the physical limitations were quite evident.

Furthermore, we were able to reduce the curvature of the spine, also achieving greater overall comfort in the back and upper limbs.
